Yuki is a one-year-old Border Collie mix from the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society in Amarillo, Texas. She is a sweet dog who is very affectionate and inquisitive. She has a high energy level and races around the backyard to burn off energy. She tries to get attention by yipping or pawing. While these are not desired behaviors, she often does them when she needs to go outside. Yuki loves long evening walks. She also enjoys playing with her housemate dog and with toys. She also loves being a lap dog or wrestling. Yuki is a sensitive dog. When she arrived at Carroll, she was afraid of everything. She may not have been exposed to many things before coming here so has little experience with the challenges in the world. She is afraid of new people and dogs but has made progress and that is the focus of her training right now. She has gotten better with women but still barks at them. She likes people after she becomes familiar with them. Her favorite things to do are hike, run, play squeak toy, cuddle, and work on training skills. We are training her to enjoy meeting new people and dogs. She barks at strangers but is rewarded when she settles down. Her ideal family will be one that continues to work with Yuki and capitalize on her sweet nature and willingness to learn new skills.
